Message	Especially if you haven't used the mechanic before. Assign him/her a small task, see how they do, see if they wall-job you, see if its done on time (per estimate). If they do great work, trust them with more. If they do bad work, you're not out much and haven't messed up your whole car. Also, always get the name of the person who's actually turning the wrenches on your car...so they can't play the blame game.
